From Chateau-Chalon with love

Stunning view and lovely people, this tiny French village has lots to offer! local products includes:

  • Vin Jaune (maybe translated as “yellow wine”?) : It is produced from a single grape variety, Savagnin. After a slow fermentation, this wine is placed in oak barrels where it remains for at least six years and three months. It is sold in a special bottle, the Clavelin, containing 62 cl, because this is the quantity remaining from a liter of wine after six years fermentation.
  • Macvin: a liqueur wine obtained from the blending of grape juice and old “Marc du Jura”)
  • Mouth-watering Morilles morel mushrooms, cooked in creamy sauce with beef tenderloin…yum!
  • oh and of course Cheeeeeeeeeese! Morbier, Comte, Bleu de Gex
